GCSE Results August 2018
Students at Chipping Sodbury School are celebrating an impressive set of GCSE examination results. It is gratifying that there is clear evidence of all the hard work on our school improvement drive which is clearly supporting student outcomes.
The number of students achieving secure or strong passes in English and maths (grades 4 and 5+) has increased compared to previous years. 21% of the year group achieved strong passes in all their subjects including: Jack Birtles, Josh Lillywhite, Max Robertson, Rowan Quested, Lauren Andrews, Sam Vines, Jemma Swatton, Tobie Parsons, Joe Melling, Emily Welsby, Beatrice Skidmore, James Langridge, Reece Gale, Lydia Morgan, Matt Day, Nathan Carter, Ethan Baird and Casey Mason. Overall, boys performed slightly better than girls and we are delighted that disadvantaged students made significantly better progress compared to previous years; again testament to the strategies we have put in place to improve student attainment.
This year, the majority of students in Year 10 sat their GCSE English Literature exam a year early. There have been many successes with nearly half the cohort achieving the top grades.
We are delighted that there have been some outstanding results from our younger students who have taken early GCSEs which is part of our exciting and innovative curriculum model. This has ensured that many students already have at least one GCSE as they enter Year 10 or 11. We regard this as further proof that we are securing great results for our school community.
Very well done to all our students, many of whom we will see return to the 6th Form. Whatever the next stage in their academic careers, we wish them the very best. Chipping Sodbury School has great young people who are a credit to our whole school community.
